This spring our first group of 5 NARO (North American River Otters) (3 males-2 females) is scheduled for release on 6500 private acres near Winona, TX., and the second group of 5 (3 males-2 females) will be released a day or two later on a different lake in the same area.
It is very likely that many of the otters will most probably hit the Sabine River that runs in the center of the property as it flows downstream, and end up in and around the Sabine River Bottom area. TPWD (Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept) and their team of managers / biologists working the area will work with us to document and advise us of any sightings, or information on their movement / migration / activity / reproduction, etc. (good or bad). We wish we had the finances to tag or microchip them to be able to track their success, but having this group work with us to monitor their activity will be the next best thing.
